Denver’s new women’s soccer franchise finally has a name

Denver s new National Women s Soccer League crew completely has a name The club officially branded itself Denver Summit FC on Tuesday morning following a months-long vote of fans along the Front Range The name secured roughly of over ballots to beat out five other options Denver Peak FC Colorado ers FC Denver Elevate FC Denver FC and Denver Gold FC Summit FC was a runaway favorite which was fortunate because as much as ownership really encouraged and desired the fans to have a voice in this they really loved that name as well Summit FC president Jen Millet disclosed It was a perfect synergetic occurrence that fans indicated up strong for it and ownership also had a big affinity for it The crew s primary logo is a four-color crest featuring white lettering green-and-white mountains and a red-and-yellow sunset The club also unveiled two secondary logos one featuring as well as a D monogram Millet reported the decision to associate the association with Denver instead of Colorado was made because of the connection the club will have with the city While Summit FC will play its first couple of seasons in a temporary stadium in Centennial the crew plans to build a -seat stadium at Santa Fe Yards at Broadway and I- that is expected to open in as the state s first women s pro sports venue We felt a sense of pride around that and wanting to acknowledge that connection to the city Millet reported The stadium in Santa Fe Yards is going to be an amazing part of Denver s fabric The club worked in collaboration with two other teams in the state who were already using the Summit name According to Summit FC the Colorado Summit of the Ultimate Frisbee Association will be renamed There is also the Denver Summit Football Club a local LGBTQ flag football club The NWSL filed a trademark for Denver Summit FC on July Millet revealed the club is excited for fans to attach themselves to an identity now and not just a temporary name The club s branding was done by Matthew Wolff a graphic designer who has created logos for numerous soccer clubs including several in the NWSL Related Articles Denver Mayor Mike Johnston calls for learned hopefulness on homelessness housing other challenges Broncos mayor s office inquired about urban-renewal tax incentives for expected Burnham Yard stadium site Renck File Julie Foudy knows women s soccer in good hands nationally in Denver Denver NWSL s presence looms over USWNT return to Colorado We already feel like this band is ours No Coloradans on USWNT roster for match against Ireland at DSGP We want this crest to embody championships and a community-driven organization Millet stated Millet explained that with a brand now established Summit FC is discussing a foreseen mascot We ve got selected fun initial concepts that I can t share yet she reported Fans can purchase merchandise for the newly named club at denversummitfc com and the band is having a brand launch party on Saturday at McGregor Square starting at p m Want more sports news Sign up for the Sports Omelette to get all our analysis on Denver s teams
